After a very cold night of sleeping under the stars, the pilgrims awake to the sounds of the choir of the Seminary of the Good Shepherd, leading the pilgrims in Morning prayer.

{mosimage}After pilgrims joined the Holy Father in prayer and Adoration at the evening vigil last night, adoration tents around the Randwick precinct were packed with pilgrims continuing their prayer and receiving confession, which was available in many languages.

{mosimage}7pm - The Evening Vigil commences with Sydney Youth Ballet carrying lamps and performing a liturgical dance. The entry of the light reminds us of the Christian call to worship.

Gary Pinto performs 'Behold The Cross' as the WYD Cross & Icon is carried onto the sanctuary and put into position. Just as the young people made their pilgrimage to Randwick today, the presence of the Cross and Icon highlight the culmination of the journey is here.

WYD: AUS v UK lineup for 'Papal Plate' Debating final

WYD Debating Champions will be crowned tonight as international debaters take on local orators to compete tonight in the final of the 'Papal Plate' debating competition to be held at Sydney University's Great Hall at 8.30pm.

Earlier today at the same location, Cardinal Pell addressed the international students of the world and encouraged them to take the Gospel into public life.

6: 15pm As communion is distributed from points around Barangaroo, hymn, Eat this Bread, is sung.

LIVE: We're at the Opening Mass

{mosimage} As I enter Barangaroo, and start moving among the crowds, colours, young people and flags fill the vast space.

{mosimage} Spirits were high today at airports this morning with WYD pilgrims arriving for pre WYD08 activities across Australia and New Zealand. Many will be participating in Days in the Diocese programmes. The first Pilgrims met at the airport today in Brisbane are from Wyoming in USA, and Alberta in Canada. Later in the week Pilgrims are expected in Brisbane from 48 other countries including Mongolia, Noumiea and the Papua New Guinea Highlands.

{mosimage} WYD Pilgrims set to start rolling in soon.

Starting early Monday morning the first pilgrims to Days in the
Diocese in Brisbane will start arriving. The first countries to arrive
include the USA and Canada.

Other countries later in the week include Mongolia and PNG.
