Isolated from the mainland of Australia, 16 indigenous people from the Tiwi islands will now get a chance to share their traditions and faith with 500,000 pilgrims abroad after being partnered by four Catholic schools in Sydney to attend World Youth Day 2008 (WYD08).

fashion designer Carla Zampatti, Sydney Swans footballer Jared Crouch, and Socceroo Mark Bresciano are
among the nine ambassadors that have volunteered their public profile and time to help promote WYD08.
In a dramatic turn-around, University of Queensland student union president Josh Young has now encouraged UQ Catholic students to campaign for a pro-life ‘referendum.’
As part of the yBENEDICT campaign, pilgrims will have the opportunity to participate in pre-WYD Pilgrim Catechesis at St Mary’s Cathedral on three Sundays prior to the Pope’s arrival.
