As the reports come back from Activ8 Sydney last Saturday it is now clear that the day’s campaign yielded hundreds of new registrations for World Youth Day.
Forty young people from former war ravaged Bosnia and Herzegovina are coming to WYD as ambassadors of peace, thanks to the support of the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN).
In what promises to be one
of the most exciting events to be hosted in Australia before WYD2008, over 650
people are expected to gather this Friday for the ‘Get Activated Dinner
Dance’ hosted by the Maronite community of Sydney.
In a first for World Youth Day – and for Sydney - Pope Benedict will
send daily text messages to pilgrims, volunteers, clergy and media during the
week of WYD2008 with the messages carrying words of inspiration and
encouragement for the pilgrimage.
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has called for the world to be united every year in a day of prayer for the Church in China.
