 Darling Harbour DARLING HARBOUR
Located just 5 minutes walk from Sydney's Central Business District, 'Darling Harbour' stretches from China Town in the CBD to Cockle Bay to King Street Wharf and all the way to Pyrmont.
Darling Harbour was named after Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling, the Governor of New South Wales.
East Darling Harbour is now called Barangaroo which was a name chosen from a competition, and will be the site where several WYD events will take place such as the Opening Mass with Cardinal George Pell, the Papal Arrival by Boat-a-Cade, and some of the final scenes of the devotional re-enactment of the 'Stations of the Cross.'
YOUTH FESTIVAL EVENTS - Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre
Several WYD Youth Festival events will take place in and around Darling Harbour at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (SCEC).
The Vocations Expo will be held in the Exhibition Hall of the SCEC, while plays and films such as "No Greater Love" (a new dramatic play inspired by St Therese of Liseux, written by Faith West); and Damien, a play by Aldyth Morris performed by Fr Edward Danylo will also be held at the SCEC.
The Jeweler's Shop (a play written by Pope John Paul II exploring themes of love and marriage) will be held in Theatrette of the SCEC on Tuesday July 15 from 12.15 - 1.15pm.
The Sydney Entertainment Centre is another venue in Darling Harbour, which is set to have the Italian National Gathering during the week of WYD.
