12 33 Passing Milsons Point train station. Prayer of crossing the water. We think of the Red Sea Crossing, the River Jordan, and our own Baptisms. Called Fr Roderick from SQPN.com (Star Quest Production Network), to leave feedback for his Daily Breakfast podcast 1 05 The Adeneys (a family from Queensland) are singing Salve Regina with all of their six children - well they have seven if you include the little one 'on the way'. 1 10 Passing toll booths 114 We pass the Cross and Icon. There are Fijians singing to Our Lady. 1 30 Behind us the Neocatechumenal Way from Italy is baring down on us with a huge banner which takes up most of the street. We are stopping to let them pass lest we be run over. They are singing with guitar, castinets and tambarine. 1 42 Ran into more friends from Brisbane and stopped to talk. 1 45 Passing the heart of Darling Harbour 1 55 The route diverges into the heart of Darling Harbour by the water where many pilgrims are stopping for lunch. A group of Austrailians are chanting 'If you're Catholic and you know it clap your hands!... You really ought to show it.' 2 45 Back underway after a quick stop for lunch. Just met a couple who met on the WYD trip in 2000 to Rome in the Holy Land. 3 11 In China town now and many people with Falung Daffa banners who are suffering persecution with allegations that their members, and others in China are being killed for organ harvesting. They even have a brass band here. (This turned out to be the closest thing to a protest that we saw all week). One banner read “Please Help – Stop the Forcible Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong Practitioners in China.” 3 45 Just met four retired Josephite nuns (the order that Mary McKillop set up). This was at The Sister Anne Court run now by Mckillop Aged Care. They tell us its 3ks to go. 3 50 we walk onto Anzac avenue, and can now see the Sydney Football Stadium. 4 22 We can now see Randwick Southern Cross Precinct!! I think I have one blister and one realy saw back. 5 08 We arrive at our spot (after walking along a sand race track for about 200 meters)! The sun is just about to go down. At the back of the course there are people setting up small dome tents. An ongoing concert is now underway as we wait for the evening vigil to begin. |
