 Fr Dominic Murphy If
you missed Christopher West or the Love & Life Site at WYD08 – fear not…
starting next week, the Catholic Chaplaincy of Sydney University will be running
a seven–week intensive course on the Theology of the Body of Pope John
Paul II, presented by Fr Dominic Murphy OP.
The
most revolutionary and comprehensive teaching about sex, from the original
intention of God who created man and woman; through the reality of the various
struggles; to the nature of true human love as the expression of God’s
love; the expression of this love through the sacrament of marriage and
celibacy; the ‘theology of the body’ of Pope John Paul II is THE
key to the building of a new civilization of love and the establishment of a
culture of life.
"The body, in fact, and it alone, is capable of making visible what is invisible; the spiritual and divine. It was created to transfer into the visible reality of the world, the mystery hidden since time immemorial in God, and thus to be a sign of it."
The Theology of the Body: Human Love in the Divine Plan; Pope John Paul II
Student Thoughts:
“A
must have tool for any Catholic.” Female
“It
illuminates the dignity of the human person instead of objectifying
them.” Female
“I
never really realised how involved God is in the marriage.” Male
“It
revolutionised my thoughts and views on the Catholic perspective towards sex.
Contrary to my former views of sex being perceived as evil and repulsive, the
Catholic view instead cherishes it and values it, claiming it is the greatest
gift.” Female
“Without
this course none of us would have anywhere near our level of appreciation of
the Church’s teaching.”
“New
Sexual revolution happening in our time. It put reasons to the rules.”
Male
“Loved
the ‘personal’ input. I admire those who can get up and share
openly of their own experiences. It puts some reality into material.”
