 16 going on 17... an aspiring 'Liesel' in Salzburg
This production will be the 2nd annual Christmas Musical following the Christmas 2007 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The Sound of Music will again be performed by Artes Christi Performing Arts with the support of CYS, the Sydney University Catholic Chaplaincy, the University of Notre Dame and Campion College.
"The first stage performance of the Sound of Music took place in New York exactly 50 years ago this month and naturally we are overjoyed to be able celebrate its 50th Birthday," explains Anthony McCarthy the artistic director of The Sound of Music.
"The Sound of Music is truly the world's most loved musical but it is also a remarkable Catholic tale of faith, vocation, fidelity and perserverance. It will be an honour to be able to present it to Sydney this year - assuming we can find a big enough cast to put it on."
The new 2008 production is planned to run from December 18-20 at the Seymour Centre and the Musical Director will again be acclaimed conductor Timothy Chung.
Auditions will be held next Thursday and Sunday with rehearsals planned to begin the following week. For full details see below or visit the website www.christmasmusical.org.au

GROUP AUDITIONS: You will be asked to sing & dance simple selected songs from The Sound of Music together with a group of 6+ other people.
INDIVIDUAL AUDITIONS: You prepare 1 or 2 contrasting pieces.
Anyone interested in a Principal Role should undertake an Individual Audition.
